Sewing: Marker or Crayon Holder
I was searching for a creative way to haul markers or crayons around. After some time skimming Pinterest for a good tutorial (there were none) I winged it and came up with this beauty.
I didn't take any more pictures of it being made but I can recap my general steps.
Take whatever you want to haul (markers, crayons, etc) and measure it the long way. Multiply that number times 3 then add a little smudge. Couple inches. That is the up and down measurement.
The other way I guesstimated about 1.5 inches per marker, x12markers = 18 inches. I cut it 19 inches to have a 1/2" seam allowance.
Then I cut a piece of quilt batting in a rectangle the size of the finished unit (18"x10" or so). Perfection not required.
Then I folded my fabric square right sides together into thirds. The 1st and 2nd third are the backing. Then the last third I folded in half as the pocket for the markers. Then flip it right side out. Measure out every 1.5" and sew up the edges and slats.
Sew your ribbon on or however you want it to close.
Good luck! I'll take more pictures next time!

Knit: Bow Hat
So I saw an amazing pinterest pin on how to knit a bow! (http://www.creatinglaura.com/2013/06/hair-bow-knitting-pattern.html) and hooked it onto my own classic hat (no pattern available but you could use your favorite).
And then per request I made a pair of booties to match (http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2013/05/crochet-newborn-baby-booties-pattern.html).
I think it looks amazing!! I'm a huge fan of the "camo" and neon. Expect more like this!

Craft: Matching Activity
One of my car friendly activity projects is super easy and fast to make. I cut a corner off of 8 colors of construction paper. Taped it up with packing tape (could be fancy and laminate). Then used markers to make matching clothespins. Wrote the word and did a block of color too.
It was a great game but I had to play with my 2 year old because she couldn't figure out how to operate a clothespin... So she grabbed them and told me where to clip them on.
Made a numbers version too:

Craft: Car Lap Activity Table
We are going on a car trip with a 2 year old. So I say to myself she can color and read and play all the way there. But then I got to thinking about how she doesn't have the lap space she needs!! So here is how I made her a lap activity board for the car.
Take a cheap whiteboard and a hot glue gun. Cut a polar fleece square 2.5-3 inches larger than the white board. Then hot glue 3 sides of the polar fleece (centered) to 3 sides of the white board.
Glue the corners together too so it ends up square.
Then cut it:

Knit: Carseat Strap Covers
So most car seats come with these but somehow ours totally got lost in storage for kid #2. So I had some worsted weight cotton yarn laying around and I whipped these up.
For knitters: use size 9 double pointed needles. Cast on 20 stitches. Knit 2 purl 2 around. Repeat x 4 rows. Knit around decreasing to 18 stitches. Knit around to 1 inch below desired length. Then knit around a row increasing to 20 stitches. Knit 2 purl 2 for 4 rows than bind off. Make 2!
