I went on a kick around Christmas time last year making these delightful mug warmers. They are quite adaptable and fit around even a paper throw-away cup. The button can be left off and they can be made completely round quite easily though. It's just garter stitch with attached I-cords on either side. I-cord loop and a button as a closure! You get different looks using acrylic vs. wool vs. blend vs. cotton - so many options!
